WHAT WE DO

We drive on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week (weather permitting) throughout the year, and can take participants who are in wheelchairs as well as those who are ambulant.

Our participants have a variety of disabilities – strokes, blindness or limited sight, mental disabilities,  life-threatening illnesses, dementia or are disabled as a result of accidents.  Many of them are keen to learn to drive themselves, but some just come to enjoy the fresh air and countryside.

Most of our participants live in care homes or sheltered accommodation and, where possible, come with their carers who also become part of the group. For most of them, this is the only opportunity they get to spend time outdoors in the countryside.

Our participants, when able, make a small weekly contribution to help cover feed and farrier bills.  The remaining annual running costs of around £15,000 have to be raised by the group through donations and fund-raising events.

we welcome donations at our just giving page:

"GIVES MY CONFIDENCE A BOOST"

“I always feel I have achieved something when we finish our drive ...it gives my confidence a boost to be responsible for some of the work”
